Recipe :
-
1 pound ground beef
- 1
onion diced
-
Abe’s seasoning, to taste
- 1-2
cloves garlic minced (optional)
-
½ head cabbage shredded
- Mushrooms
(optional)
- Bridgeford bread dough or make your own yeast dough
Brown ground beef with onions, mushrooms and seasoning. When browned add shredded cabbage and approximately
1 cup of water. Place lid on the pan or
dutch oven and simmer on low until cabbage is limp or cooked down. Bridgeford bread dough comes in a three loaf
pack and can be found in the freezer section of your store. Thaw one loaf and roll out on a floured board to about ¼” thick
rectangle. Cut into desired size and
place approximately 1/4 to 1/3 cup of
meat mixture in center of each piece of dough.
Bring corners together to seal and turn upside down on a greased cookie
sheet. Shape into a ball. Let rise about 25 minutes and then place in a
350º oven until top is golden brown. When
removed from the oven brush the top with butter and let cool.
Tip: I have done this with about 4 pounds of beef
and increased all amounts appropriately.
Using all of the dough in the 3 loaf package you can make 16-20 beerocks
depending on their size. Place each one
in a small zip lock baggie and freeze.
This will make many meals and they can be popped into the microwave for
2 minutes. Also this will use your entire
head of cabbage. Enjoy!
