Valencia Oranges

By April 24, 2013Fruit, Storage, Tips

General Info

Valencia oranges are also called summer oranges, as they are available from spring into the fall. Valencia oranges have a thinner skin and can hang on tree for an entire year. During the warm months, ripe orange fruit may turn back to green as it reabsorbs chlorophyl in its skin.

Serving Suggestions

The flavor of a Valencia orange is a balance of sweet and tart; great for making fresh orange juice. Unlike the juice from navel oranges, the juice from Valencia oranges will keep well in the refrigerator for days so you can juice ahead of time. These oranges are also great for fresh eating.
